The Twin Murders is the second novel in the David Graham series. A violent rape/murder of a private school teacher draws the Washington, D.C., detective into the hunt for the twisted killers. The escape of his former partner from an institution for the criminally insane complicates his life further as she stalks him and threatens those he loves.
While I'm not squeamish about violence in books, there’s something about rape combined with murder that curdles my blood. Then, I realized that my reaction to those graphic scenes was proof that Ms. Martinez had done a great job of depicting them. The description is honest and in-your-face, which makes you root even more for David. While some scenes are violent, the book isn’t about violence. It’s about justice and about children twisted by nature/nurture. All in all, a good continuation of the David Graham series. |
